The Lowdown
 

As some of you folks know, I started a thread yesterday (or the day before, cant quite recollect) anyway, I said i was going to look at a 1989 22re extended cab 5spd that had been sitting for 5 TO 6 YEARS!.......and well I did.

Here's the Lowdown.

The Bad:
It needs a cleaning real bad, the stick shifter is so dirty that I need to sand the grime off, the truck has some weird kind of algae growing on the windows.
Starters fried
Needs a new clutch or new clutch line, not sure yet
Needs new battery
Needs Tires


The Good:
Only minor rust near the rear quarter panels
All the light and everything on the dash work great
The frame is Mint, still has the white stickers on it and rust preventative paint
Has 58,000 Actual miles instead of the 70,000 he thought there was over the phone
I don't know if this is a plus but, he also has the original sticker pulled off the window when he got home from the dealership, he bought it for $17,800 and I might get it for $800.

IDK really but I think you can do better than that. Unless things are VERY different over there. I just bought a Lifted 90 runner for 1000 with a BHG. So for 200 less you get that??? Is the good frame really worth that much? If it was an 85 I think it would be more justified but I think you could find a runing one for that much. (well i know you could here at least)

Around here...Yotas are expensive, and hard to find.....people want full book value for them. But sometimes you find one that needs minor things, that the owner has no idea how to fix, and costs a fortune at a shop...so they sell them cheap. Snag it while ya can... I got my runner for $600, and it just needed minor stuff... I have already put over 20k on it with minor issues.... 54k miles on a yota for $800....ya I'd def do it!! (as long as you know the motor is good)

Not only that but its a 22re, don't get much more reliable than that.

ya they only put odometers on them cuz the DMV told them to. lol

one more question guys why would anyone not drive their brand new yota, it's sickening, I would like to slap this guy in the face, brand new and he just lets it sit their for 6 years, ahem....Dumb @$$

My opinion............BUY IT QUICKLY...........

go with 800$, offer 600$ cash, worst he can say is no. if you have the space and money to work on it, pull the trigger.

A vehicle that has been sitting for 5 to 6 years is going to have a LOT of maintenance issues. Do NOT try to crank it until you have serviced the entire vehicle and changed ALL the fluids, including the gas.

Sitting up north, I bet there is a LOT more rust than you think.

$800 is overpriced for something that has not moved in 5 to 6 years...might as well be 20 years.
