Loud "CLUNK" when turning at full lock...ideas?
Like the title says, sometimes when I'm turning my truck at full lock (either direction) I hear a very loud Pop or Clunk (Descriptive, no?) sound from the front end, sometimes once, sometimes two or three times. It started after hitting a pretty hard pothole while doing some fast trail running one day. Anyone have any ideas? I'm guessing I've got a broken tooth in on one of my front axles or the front diff, but I don't know if that would cause the sound or not. Thanks in advance!!

The truck in the picture doesn't have steering stops, the a arms are not stock but that is where they are located. On the lower a arm there is the part that it comes in contact with the circled part. Lube both parts on a regular basis and you will not hear it. There is supposed to be a plastic cap on them but those don't last long.

That "rubberizer" spray paint? Its made for tool handles and stuff, you spray on several coats and it actually forms a foamy rubber handle...you could spray the end of these stops with that stuff....voila make a permanently bonded rubber cap... work? yes? no?

i think the rubberized would wear quickly....something is needed like a metal roller or a hard polyurithane cap. i think they would do the trick
personally i love the look on people's faces when i make a sharp tunr in a parking lot.....its a mix of and:cry:

I greased them up & still, CLUNK! There's a groove worn smooth across the middle of both stops; what about taking them off & grinding a rounded top on them? I'm sure it would only be temporary, but would it help?
