loping idle, no power, 14 miles on a fresh rebuild?

88 3.0. just got it all installed and buttoned up, drove it for a while, threw code 52, new knock sensor and wire installed now it runs really bad, idle "gallops" i thought it might be timing causing the issues. few questions...the timing is supposed to advance correct? so why when i have the timing light hooked up does the timing not advance? set it at 10* BTDC... the b stands for "behind" TDC or "beyond" TDC? right now with the distributor turned all the way counterclockwise the timing mark is at 15* i have pulled the distributor and moved it one tooth so i could get a little more adjustment but it had no effect, checked the vacuum lines for correct placement twice...could a vacuum line cause the timing to be off?

any help greatly appreciated.
