Long road trip with the trusty 22re?
Need to head to california soon with the little champ. Any worries about its durability with the long road ahead? It's in great shape, 110k miles and just had a brand new clutch installed. It's had a full tune up kit installed about 10k miles ago. No leaks, or oil burning, i guess i have answered my own question, lol but just want some feel good stories i guess
switched out the uncomfortable bench seat for some comfortable sr5 buckets so comfort wise i should be fine. just figured out the gas mileage today if anyone cares lol, 100% city driving with quite a bit of idling and using the a/c 75% of the time= 21.7mpg. I have a bit of a lead foot as well so i think it's doing really well. later guys..

Last fall I put 2500 miles (about 4000 kilometers) on my truck in one week doing a fishing trip up north for Steelhead to Terrace BC from Vancouver BC. That's about 950 miles there, 950 miles back, and the rest of the miles driving to various fishing spots within 30-100 miles of our hotel on mostly descently graded, pot holey logging roads, and I ran into a few situations on some spur roads where I almost got stuck. That's on a 3.0 V6 with about 160,000 miles on it at the time.
Didn't even break a sweat!

My mom put 1128.56 miles on the 4Runner last summer going to WA and back, and it is still running just as good. I have put over 1000 just by myself since I have driven it, and it could use a little TLC, but it still runs better then any vehicle in my name, so I am happy with it. Just don't drive like a total idiot, and keep your fluids and other maintenance up, and it will work.

Shoot. 110k? It is still a baby. I would trust mine on a trip around the world if there were long enough bridges over the obvious spots (oceans). I have 255k on mine.

The only things I would suggest is replacing the belts and hoses unless they have already been done recently. It's fairly cheap and easy to do. Keep the old ones as spares.
Speaking of spares, make sure your spare tire fully inflated and you have your jack with you.
Drive safe.

with my 90 4runner & 22re i bought it at 180k, after driving it from colorado to LA & back with the previous owners. We drove that thing to the east coast straight thru several times for emergency trips on no notice. Truck never even hiccuped once the whole time I owned it. Nothing's 100%, but I like your chances.
