"limp mode" after timing belt replacement

Hi All, I did a bunch of searching but only found a few mentions of this. I did my own timing belt replacement on my '92 Toyota pickup with a 3vze for the first time (on any car I've owned) and while I feel like things went well, after putting everything together again the truck turned over and started, but won't rev over 3k, and won't go over 10mph. CEL is on as well, but I don't have a code reader (open to recommendations of what to purchase for a CEL reader as well). Can't even get into second gear. The only thing I found was someone mentioning having the timing belt off on alignment by one tooth giving this effect. In some other cars I've owned there was a way to clear the limp mode with pulling fuses etc, is there anything like that I can try before I tear down the timing belt stuff I just did and redo it?

You don't need a code reader for these trucks. Jumper wire or paper clip in the TE1 and E1 port under the hood and you count the flashing check engine light

"limp mode" most commonly refers to Code 52, when the ECM loses touch with the Knock Sensor. (To prevent over-advancing the ignition, it substantially retards timing. Retarded timing => runs like poop.)

As Robert m suggests, this is the Code Reader I reccommend: https://www.staples.com/OIC-Jumbo-Pa...product_525949

Thanks for the responses, turns out that I damaged my VAFM (MAF Sensor) when I was getting to all the stuff I needed for my timing belt change. I replaced that (surprisingly hard to find one) and everything's working fine now!
