Interesting that you mention the hood scoops, I don't think I have ever seen a factory hood scoop on a 1st gen Turbo 4Runner. I have seen them on the 2nd gen diesel turbo over here in Japan but never on a 1st gen.

wow. i just spent two hrs looking for an 84-88 with a hood scoop. the only one i found was a custom retrofit of a 99 hood into an 88.

about 2-3 mos ago there was a bluish-purple 87 turbo for sale on fleabay. it was a clean truck. it had a hood scoop. i thought it was factory, and i coulda swore i had seen them in the past.

but i can't find a thing on them online. i must have been confusing it with another model.

Don't ask me how she did it, especially with no momentum. It boggles me to this day. Her little Escort was smashed in from the headlight all the way to the rear tire. I guess I lucked out when the insurance bought it off me for $6500 when I bought it for $2500. That truck had some gitup...in college it got me and 3 homies back to UC Davis from San Fran in 45min after a Gov't Mule concert. Well that's my rant for the day. Best of luck for you lucky guys with 22ret's.

how the hell can you do a 2 hour drive in 45min!! lol

digging through old build threads, i found 1985 4runner's thread for his vette powered monster. it has a very cool hood scoop, but it appears it is an aftermarket add-on. i know i've seen another with a similar scoop on fleabay, and it was a turbo, so i guess it made me think all turbos had them. apparently not. i sure like the look though!
get a look at the pics while you can, he sold it a while back.

the thread i swiped those pics from indicated it was a wide scoop for a new style mustang. there was a link to one they were discussing as very similar, which new was about $190.

the owner of that truck indicated it was there when he bought it so he didn't know the true source.

it does look cool though.

Heres a pic of my 86 Turbo. Engine got full rebuild at 120k. Currently 155k on chassis. 5sp,p/w,p/l, boost gage. Took me 2 months to wrestle the challengers form my friend, it was worth the wait. Tires are 31x10.5 BF a/t's.
