leaking oil pump/front seal
I noticed today that the front seal, and possibly the oil pump seal is leaking. I had the truck idling in the driveway, and noticed a small pool of oil underneath it (could've been accumulating awhile, as I haven't moved the truck in a couple weeks). Is it possible to use rtv sealant (like super grey) on the o rings on the oil pump?
I think the engine in it is kind of worn, as it takes a couple seconds for the oil pressure light to turn off. It is also an older engine (I think it is an 82, as that is the last year they came with a dual row timing chain), so I don't want to rebuild it when it isn't the laser block that came in the truck (the trucks an 86 4wd)

You can`t use a sealer to fix the pump, you need to replace crank shaft seal (check for a groove worn into the balancer) and the oil pump seal. I just had to replace the oil pump and drive gear because the oil pump wunt out on my 86 4Runner, it was around 150.00 dollars.

Maybe I should "borrow" the lazer block out of my 86 2wd that I am storing. Its EFI, but I don't think the oil pump on the 81-84 engines are compatible with the newer ones. I am planning on rebuilding one for it eventually, but I need to use it as a DD through the winter.
