LC coil lift question please help

Ive been working outside for the last few hours on my 91 surf. I have finally gotten the stock springs out and ive noticed they are larger in diameter then the LC coils i have to put in. here are a few pics. Is this normal or did i get the wrong type of coils?

lol give it more than 10mins

Well........... Toyota didn't want their springs to break or warp on their trucks so they put beefy springs... in ...... simple as pie...... the ones you got will prob be fine.

joevanvliet 10-24-2009 04:45 PM

do you not see the difference in circumference? will the bottom of the springs become wider because they wont fit in the seats the way they are right now. p.s. they are both toyota springs.

what year did those come off and are they the front or rear ?

Kiroshu 10-24-2009 04:48 PM

Air you sure they are for your truck? they kinda look like 3 gen runner springs.... hard to say.... they won't fit at all?

joevanvliet 10-24-2009 04:52 PM

they are LC coils = landcruiser coils. they came off of the right year but the only explanation i can think of is that they are front coils. I dont know to much about landcruisers though so im not sure of the difference between front/rears.

I guess the person who i bought them off sold me the wrong ones. I was just wondering if anyone has done this mod could tell me if this is normal or not.

Kiroshu 10-24-2009 04:54 PM

what you could do...... is set them on there and get a torch and heat them up until they kinda just.... fall on.... i did that one time with a pair or spriings on a 90 4runner.... it worked good...

those look smaller in diameter than the lc coils that i put in my truck last weekend. Those might in fact be the fronts off of a lc.

Elton 10-24-2009 04:55 PM

i think for 2nd gens you want the rear coils

They do look a bit smaller than what I installed as well. I did mine the other week back. I have heard of folks using the front springs just can't remember for what?

joevanvliet 10-24-2009 05:20 PM

im pretty sure they use the front springs for 96+ 4runners.

Lumpy 10-24-2009 05:24 PM

That sounds about right...I didn't want to say cause I was not real sure and didn't want to give you bad info.

Did you have to make seats for the springs or did you put them in as is. I bought the right coils today and i got the rubber seats with them off the landcruiser.

Do you still have the springs you had pictured. If so would you like to sell?
