Large spring fell out from under dash (86 22re 4x4 auto)

Hey everyone,

First off, it's colder than hell (zero degrees F) here in Minnesota so I'm posting this before I spend 10 minutes out in the cold poking around under a dark dashboard.

Today while driving I had a large, aprox 6-8" spring fall out from under the drivers side of my dashboard. A brief search on google returned nothing relevant. Anyone familiar with where this thing goes? Throttle return and brake pedal both seem to spring back to normal.

Any help would be appreciated!

It's one of the springs that connect to the pedal assembly. Brake, clutch, or has pedal.

Of you look at your pedal assembly you will see a pin the goes through each assembly holding either the brake booster rod to the brake pedal or the master cylinder to the clutch pedal. One of those is missing the spring. Now figure out which one. After that look up under the steering wheel down below the plastic dash trim. You will see some little holes. That's we're the other end of the spring hooks in. It's used to keep your pedal pulled back

Probably the spring that connects to the clutch pedal. That is about the correct size without seeing a picture...

Did you find out what the spring was. I was just replacing the heat resistor in my sons 2001 Toyota Camry and that same spring fell down when I took the cover down, no idea where it goes to, any thoughts? I t is 6-8 inches long but there is also an o ring on one side

welcome to 2013.

how would you know that the spring in the camry is the same as the spring from the truck? there isn't a picture posted in the thread showing the spring.

perhaps ask in a camry forum that covers the 2001 model, rather than a truck/4runner forum that covers '86 to '95.

I haven't spent a lot of time in MN, but I got the impression that the locals think of that as a pretty nice day!
