just picked up 93 toyota pickup - stuck engine
just picked up this 93 pickup 4x4 ext cab V6 automatic trans . bought as unknown condition.
was told it has been sitting a year or so. i cannot turn the engine by hand and trans shifter is also stuck in park . story go's is it was the guys daughter's truck and it quit on her. dad said her not so smart Dumb A#@ boy friend took it home and started to tear it apart.
so far i see the alternator is gone, cap-rotor-wires gone, & some fuse's gone from the box under the hood. i do not have the missing parts. maybe the cap was pulled to get the ALT out .
im hopeing to get the engine to turn over but hard to get something on the crank pulley. what do you'all suggest i look for. starter hung up ? belts froze to pulleys ? could the trans hold the engine ?. does it have a timeing belt or chain ?.
thanks....perry

V6 has the timing belt. Not too sure how automatics work when there in park (only deal with manuals) but im guessing you should be able to rotate the motor. Im trying to remember from when I did my HG a while back but I think you should be able to access the crank pulley from the bottom with a ratchet or breaker bar
Are those all of your yotas in the back?

just have the one grey and white yota. other is a S-10 in the back ground.
i got the fan and shroud off. used a pipe wrench, the engine is locked tight. pulled all the plugs , pulled inspection plate & checked the starter gear for hang up. no signs of anything wrong. but engine wont turn. they must have got it hot and siezed up .
i got it to go into nuetral, there is a manual over-ride button for the shifter lock....DUH....
guess ill keep digging at it , but i bet the rods are siezed to the crank .

Any sign of water in the oil? Try to put some Marvel Mystery oil in each cyl, and let it sit for a day or two and get a wrench on the crankshaft bolt. Go slowly, the rings may be stuck to the cyl. walls and need a little lube to free them up. Also, take off all other belts.

If the motor needs rebuilt I would recommend just going with a 3.4 swap. No use in putting a lot of money and work into a 3.0 especially with the bad gas mileage and low amount of power they put out but thats just me. I plan to swap out mine when she finally goes.

IMO if you're going for better mpg the 4.3 isn't much better than the 3.0... I'm helping a buddy swap a tired 4.3 out of his zr2 sonoma for a 5.3 H.O. and one of the main reasons he's doing that is the 4.3 was still only getting 16-17 mpg
If you don't want to rebuild the 3.0 find a good junkyard motor ..or get one that someone else took out for a 3.4 swap. and BAM drop a running 3.0 in her and have two running trucks... I wouldn't gut your 90 it looks clean.
