jaguar alternator swap 120

i have been doing some research and it seems that mid 90s jaguar xj6 alternators r the way to go 120 amp and about 140 bucks at autozone... plug and play all that needs to be done is swapping the serp to v pullie and in it goes...anyone have any experience with installing or drawbacks with the alternator overcharging?

Part Number: 13230
Alternate Part Number: 13248

little mroe to it than swapping pully. believe the shaft on the stock 22re is 15mm and the jag one is 17mm have to widen the hole on the pulley a little bit. that and upgrade your wire. you shouldn't have issues with overcharging i believe they're regulated the same as the 22re one.

EDIT: You will also have to bend the top bracket a bit from what i have read. wish i still had the write up on it book marked it was very detailed and lots of pics. I was actually thinking of doing this swap on my next set of days off from work. 120amps would be wonderful to have

Will you have to use a different battery when you do this swap or will the stock recommended battery work? Eventually I want to do some lights and a winch on my truck and I think this is definitely an upgrade that will have to be done for that to work right.

No need to change batteries. The battery will take as much charge as it would with stock alt. The extra current capacity of alternator only counts when engine / alt are running and will be consumed by lights, etc that you add. Of course, IF and only IF, you plan to run your added lights/circuits while engine/alt is off then higher capacity battery is better.

BTW, an option is to use a stock alternator with stator upgraded to somewhere around 90 Amps. 4Crawler mentions this option in his site, but contact info have changed to a different shop in San Diego. I found them a little expensive, but found AES Auto Electrical that installed one on mine for $190, incl. tax.

For $140 the jaguar one fits and puts out 120 and is available at most autozones in stock no shipping or losing ur vehicle usage

This looks like the same one here. I am trying to figure out which way I want to go...this way or GM swap.

Edit: I tried to fix the link but it wouldn't work. Here's the site again:

http://www.fleetalternatorstarter.co...tor_denso.aspx

There's a 120 amp one and a 140 amp one on the top of the page listed for John Deere tractors. I believe the warranty is one year so probably wiser to go with the Auto Zone Jag alternator. I have a friend who works at Advance Auto so I will have to find out if Advance sells these with the lifetime warranty. These look to be about the same as the Jag one but I haven't called them. I came across the site while searching on line.

Yep, alt from Jaguar XJ6 93-97 is almost plug & play. Need to swap belt pulleys and bend adjustable bracket because it's slightly bigger than stock. Someone by the name "Chris..." had posted his mod.

Daved5150, does that site have a lifetime warranty? Don't the autozone ones come with that too?
