Ignition cutting out

I have an 87 22r PU. I did the GM module conversion. It ran fin for about 3 weeks. Then the ignition started cutting out after driving it for about 5 miles. If I cool down the module with ice, it will run just fine. When I did the conversion, I built a heatsink, using aluminum, to mount the module to. I changed the module thinking that would fix it, it didn't.

Any ideas to what went wrong?

Thanks in advance for the help.

did you apply the heat dissipation grease to the back of the module? it is very important to the life expectancy of the module.

Yeah I did. I knew that I was sure to apply it.

The GM Ignitor mod is very simple. Just make sure you isolated it from touching the ignitor case. Ignitors usually work or NOT.

Why did you use a heat sink??? Sounds like the GM ignitor may be bad???? Those GM Ignitors used to be fairly reasonable, but I guess they're up around $50.00 now.

I don't understand what you mean by make sure it's not touching the ignitor case. Please explain.

I had it like that at first. Then it started acting up, so I moved it to. I used a piece of aluminum, and bolted the module to it. But the aluminum is bolted to the old casing, where the coil use to be. And the wires and tabs are not touching it at all.

It was the coil. For some reason the Accel was cutting out on me. I think it was a bad coil.
