Idling RPM question for 22re, 88 4runner, auto

we adjusted my idle where the FSM manual said to. When in neutral (without AC on) it was around 1000 RPM's. my dad's FSM said it needed to be around 750. is this correct? after adjusting to 750, when I put it in drive it goes to around 500-600 rpm's. does this sound about right for you all? before this was all done it would be around 1200 rpm's with the AC on. I just want to make sure we had it set right with what most of you all run. thanks
