Idle problems
 

My buddy has an 86 4runner 22RE auto. He just bought the truck. It idles around 1000 RPMs but when you put the truck in gear the idle drops so much the truck cuts off. Is there anything that bumps the idle up when you put a load on the motor? I wanna say ive read about something that bumps the idle when you hit the brake.

Any suggestions?

Recently I ran into a problem like this with a 02 jetta, and it ended up being the coil pack... I don't know if that would even help though...
