I wonder how the squirrel made it past the air filter/afm... strange. next time someone on here asks about a sticky throttle I will point them to the obvious acorn problem.

That's a very good question! Or was it a mouse? LOL!

Funny story....I haul alot of animal feed, and my '86 has alot of rust holes. Those little freckin' mice actually found their way into the vehicle (climbed the tires, I guess), made nests in the fiberglass insulation in the body walls, and left cat food, dog food, bird food, etc. in every opening they could get in. The air ducting, the dash, under the seats...everywhere. But funny enough, they didn't chew any wires. ??? Just a bit on the seats and the whole inside of the headliner in the cab. I used D-con to get 'em all out (which I hate using), but those suckers will get in ANYWHERE they can. My 4rnr stank for weeks...ungh!

Acorn problem....that should be stickied!

BTW, yotakid, that mess is going to be all up in your intake. Have fun! Rotten acorns! LOL!

That settles it, any problem now can be fixed by removing the offending acorns. "my rear suspension was squeaking when I crawled under there, BLIMEY!!! I found acorns stuffed everywhere!"

I bet a bunch of them did go in to the cylinders... I think they would be soft enough to just crush and burn, and then go in to the exhaust. I also have to wonder if the cat is plugged with a bunch of pieces or if they burned up after time.

I bet that has been a sweet smelling exhaust for the last few months.

I've seen mice hide dog biscuits in various places. and if i remember correctly there was a dog food thread on here last month, but i've never seen em get past the air filter.

The rig probably sat somewhere for a while with no air filter before it was slapped together to sell. "Here! Buy my 4rnr!...And my acorn problem!!!"...."Here! Buy my Toyota 3.0! Has a built in acorn roaster! (Disclaimer: Results may vary from nut to nut)" ...pun intended

- once free it works fine till the next stop

This sounds like the black sooty crud that builds up on the butterfly valve inside the throttle body. Easy to clean: solvent on some clean rags, use needle nose vicegrips or anything to hold the rags, wipe it all down...no more sticky throttle.
