I was home last night and looked at my new factory head gaskets. Yup, they are a steel slipperplate design. The steel side (with some kind of coating) mates to the aluminum head, and the graphite side mates to the iron block. That the info you were looking for?

Good to hear. I'd like to see if there is any real benefit from this over just using the ones that are there.
