how to remove crank and cam seal -newbie
Please teach me how to remove the crank and cam seals? Sitting in the garage pondering listening to 80's music.
I dont understand how to get the seals out. Do I need a tool to get the seal out? Can I drill and push a screw into it so I can pull?
The seals I got from the dealer seems like a very tight fit...is this normal? I can bearly get these on the shaft.
I've got 94Runner with 120K miles
Honestly, this is the hardest of doing a timing belt replacement - in my opinion.
your expertise please?

used screws
I found a great post...so I thought I would put my solution
I drilled into the seal while on the engine. It has a metal backing so it really needs a drill. You must be very careful though. At one point, I drilled into the engine. Once you feel a thunk, stop drill cause you will hit the back end of the seal. Becareful not to hit the sides of housing of the seals. Use a sharp drill bit.
Put the screws into the holes at 180 degress apart. Take pilers and pull. Mine just popped right out with medium effort tug. I used drywall screws.
Grease the new seals and pop in carefully using a socket about the same size as the seal. Grease all parts of the seal. I got this Pittsburg box set of sockets ...it is 21 piece 3/4" socket set, but these are metrics at Harbor Freight. item 05494. These have come in handy in many uses.
