How to install Tachometer for 84 Toyota Pickup Camper 22R 4cyl

Want to install a simple tachometer or this 84 Toyota Pickup-Camper with 2.4: 4cyl 22R engine. Lots out there, including comments about being careful to replace (when hooking up to?) engine temp guage. Want to monitor RPM when going up hill here in Alaska

Are you looking to install an aftermarket gauge or upgrade to the fancy SR5 gauge cluster?

I bought a cheap digital tach off of eBay and I like it. Works fine for me. The instructions are pretty easy. I have seen a lot of people swap in SR5 clusters with no problem but I've tried TWO and I didn't like them. Speedo cable wined in one and I couldn't get the fuel to read in the other. If you just want RPMs a $30 eBay tach will work.

Just the Tach for monitoring RPM... not going fancy this year. Landed at Yota after browsing - seems like there are more people onto the 22R.

22R (2366cc) RN55L-KD3W - seen in mnfg tech manual where a RPM tester hooks to + and - battery terminals / then into - coil ... but other info browsed indicated Tach install with an EIS... so just looking to mount a small Tach on dash - looking for most efficient way...

Reason is to monitor steep ascents with this Dolphin Camper attached. Just purchased - with only 95,000 miles on rig - want to get a few more miles out of it.
