Thanks! I'll look around under the dash when I get a chance. Is it just a simple toggle switch by itself or attached to a box?

it all differs. may just be a metal swith hanging or mounted under dash. like i said , mine is a factory black plastic switch installed in one of the square knock outs in the dash. probably where your red light is on yours. i would try and search this forum. type in everything in search box, horn , alarm, silent , valet and so on. maybe you will find something. someone else had to have the same problem as you.

Hi, I need your help, I have a factory security in my 93 4runner, but i dont have a key fob, and dont know which one works with my system... my security ecu is under the driver seat, and looks like this:, on the dash i have a switch like this...

The sistem is working fine in both modes, only thing missing is a key fob...
Does any of you have this security ecu?

Step 2 of instructions is to "hold the receiver programming button for 3 seconds..." (receiver "located either under driver or passenger seat...or behind driver's dash...") Upon quick inspection I found a brown module about the size of a pack of cigarettes above my clutch pedal, without any sort of "programming button" on it. When I have more time I will remove this module and verify that it controls door locks and check the part number to verify that it does NOT have remote capability. Then I should be able to find the right part or make it work with the 96 module that should be on its way soon.
sorry to revive the old thread, but this is really fitting my problem currently. The only thing i found is also this light brown module about that size. Did you find out anything more on that one?

Thanks

I too have the same box under mine too. I believe it is after market. I have a toggle switch underneath my dash too.

EDIT: my brown box is actually the power antenna relay. I do have a ton of aftermarket wiring under my dash--probably for an alarm and NOT a remote access system.
