Horrible wiring mess! Brake Lights inop

Hello and thank you for your support.
I am having an awful issue with wiring in my toyota pickup. Sr5 extra cab v6. The first picture goes straight into the brake pedal switch. It runs directly into the tail lights. At this point my brake lights do not work (duh)

This picture goes up into the dash somewhere and i cannot trace it

This picture has wires running from the left side of the cab and goes into something that is obviously broken

Ok so to update this thread, i have found the brake switch wiring that was cut after pulling the dash apart. I've attempted to reconnect it and still no brake lights. My tail lights were also spliced into for a trailer harness. I'm hoping this is where my problem is.

With a mess like that your best bet is to get the Toyota Electrical Wiring Diagrams for your vehicle..

You know what color wires your looking for and where they go saves lots of pulling things apart

I won`t own a Toyota without having them.

Watch for them on Ebay.

looks like part of a relay or flasher in that plug

Sorry to see things done like that.

Stereos and brake lights added to these trucks are most of the common issues I see on these for electrical problems.

None of the wires you are showing are factory installed. I have had to go to a bone yard and look how a trucks wire is supposed to be. The pink/purple and white is a factory speaker wire with the white plug on it. The smaller one in the 3rd picture.

When they wire in trailer lights, I have seen them tap into the front blinker or park lights so I would check there as well.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I'm going to the local yard to see if i can find any yotas that haven't been molested. I'm going to need that connector for the switch anyway. I did also find an aftermarket alarm and a crap load of relays for lighting and all that jazz.

I saw heavy gauge wiring like for an amp and/or large speakers...be sure that when it was installed, it didn't rub something the wrong way.

You are absolutely correct, i followed the power wire to a breaker that runs into the positive terminal. As far as junkyard goes, i was only able to find a 1994 4runner which surprisingly a lot of things did not correlate to my truck.
