Hey all, thinking of buying this 4runner

Hey all, am heading to Ohio this weekend to check out this 4runner,
it's a 95 looks and sounds clean from the add.
i've only had 1st gen 4runners with 22r's i've heard some horror stories about the 3.slow motors. I would only be using this one for my around town vehicle though and not off roading it.
did they have all the headgasket issues with the 3.0 motors worked out by 1995? any other little quirks or facts would be nice.

here is a link

Peace!

Take a very close look around the vehicle, it looks like somoene went as far as polishing the engine bay. Look for little issues with it and try talking them down a tad.

Wow, how many bottles of armor-all do you think went into that engine bay? lol. take a very good look at that engine bay. I've got a 95 also and its on its 2nd gasket and second motor. be sure to check the coolant (no oil in the mix), verify if its california emissions ( the exhaust is completely different on those and no direct fit/aftermarket parts exist). I'm sure other guys can chime in on what to look for......

Just noticed, its coming from a used car dealership. Spit and polishing the engine bay is standard practice at those places. Just remember, all that glitters(or in this case, shines) is not gold

LOL yeah i noticed the sheen to the engine compartment too, looks like mine when i clean it on my 86. LOL! accept I have a 22RE in that.
I'm sure i'll be crawlin all over it and under it when I get there, general rule of thumb in my book has always been to be cautious when dealing with a used car dealer, hell any car dealer! LOL!
my main concern was possible engine problems with the 3.0's always heard about head gasket failures, is there somewhere to check if it has had it done, or if it qualifies for a headgasket fix?

thanks all!
Rick
