Hesitation after water

When I buried my truck (the time in the avatar), my truck began hesitating at low RPMs. I could put it to the floor in 1st, and then out of nowhere it would take off after hesitating. About 6 months later it finally went away seemingly on its own. Tonight I got a car wash to get some of that crappy salt off. Unfortunately the stutter has occurred, so I am sure it has something to do with water, but not sure what. Any clue as to what it could be or how to prevent it?

Thanks,

Jason

Check all your plug wires and pull your dist. cap and check for corrosion. The first time you swamped it it may have gotten water in it and started corroding things. water + ignition system = all sorts of running issues.

I changed everything after I did it the first time trying to fix it (fuel filter, plugs, wires, PCV, intake, checked VAF, O2, cap, fuel cleaner, and rotor). Nothing helped. Tomorrow I will take a peak in the daylight.

the 3.0's really dont like water. I had problems all the time with my 3.0 and water. Plugs maily and wires would foil real quick after any wheeling trips. I would check the plugs and wires and give them a good coating of dielectric grease and maybe silicone shut the distributor cap. could maybe be a vac line also but it sounds more like plugs and wires to me

you probably got a little water in your distributor, or maybe your intake

could also be inside your air flow meter. or the potentiometer (in essence).

that should be a sealed area, and be very careful not to change anything, but if that metal strip gets worn out, or the head goes bad, it can cause a bucking, or hesitation.

Fixed it!

I checked all plug and wire connections. Took off my cap, and cleaned the contact points on the cap and rotor. Also sprayed some wd40 in there and wiped it out, then sprayed again and let it evaporate, then reassembled. Plowed the driveway this mornin w/ no problems.
