help installing mechanical water temp gauge

it seems like im missing a piece. i dont know if im supposed to or not but i wanted to screw it into the stock sensor spot, which the tap does fine however there no actual seal. can i just put some sealant around it or something? no clue. lol. theres nothing to stop it from just falling further into the tube. what should i do?

what do you mean what kind of setup? the black wire runs straight to the back of the gauge, dont know if thats what you mean. to the other comment yeah teflon tape isnt going to help. The brass fitting (while maybe its not meant for it) threads perfectly into the stock sensor port (and my gauge is messed up so its not like im using it for the stock water gauge and its not the one that goes to the ECU so it should matter if i use the aftermarket one there) problem is the water can just freely come out the brass fitting b/c theres nothing that connects it to the sensor and theres no sealer between the wire and the brass fitting. i hope thats understandable.

Yea your missing the other fitting.

It works like this:

It only worked in the opening on the side of the T-stat housing on my 22R, the stock location isnt deep enough to house the new probe.
