Help?!?

I'm having this really weird issue on my 90 v6 4 runner . It only started pretty recently struggles to start and is running really lean but when I start driving around and I'm gentle on the throttle it feels like I have a rev. Limiter at 3K RPMs but when I push on the throttle more it ignores it. I thought it could be a couple of things. So I did my spark plug, spark plug wires and my fuel pump does anyone have a clue on what this could be? Please help. It's my only ride

It could be likely that your cold start injector time switch is bad (non-functional). It provides power to the cold start injector when the engine is cold and as it warms up (approximately 86 to 140 degrees F).
You'll need an ohm meter to test it. The switch is located on the water bypass outlet at the rear of the intake manifold. Remove the connector and inspect it and it's wires for any damage or problems.
This can sometimes be the only issue and a new pigtail for that switch is only about $20.
Test the switch for resistance at each terminal to ground. On a cold engine, the resistance should be less than 100 ohms.
If it reads somewhat higher than that or reads as an open loop (OL) then the switch is bad and needs to be replaced.

There is another test you can do if you have a test light. The time switch connector must be connected for this test. With a cold engine, disconnect the cold start injector wire harness.from the injector.
Connect the test light across to the connector terminals, making sure they don't touch each other or any metal on the engine, then crank the engine.
If the light repeatedly flashes, the circuit is working and the switch is good. If it doesn't flash then the time switch is bad.

If the testing shows that the time switch is good, then you likely have a dead or clogged cold start injector. More than not though it's the time switch.

AutoZone has an aftermarket switch, AUTOTECNICA TY1319001, for about $87. The OEM switch (Toyota Part # 89462-20040) is about $290 from Toyota online or from dealers, but you can sometimes find genuine ones on Ebay for less.
