Headers without cam or crank upgrade

May be a stupid question but guys at the parts store were saying I should upgrade my crank or cam before I put headers on. That true? Guessing they're saying performance cranks are stronger than stock.

A header will provide a performance boost anytime. It would be complimentary with a cam....but you can do just the header for now.

Crankshaft? Part store guys a noob. Last thing you need to worry about right now...lol

Yeah adding a header is a awesome upgrade to these lil toyota's. Although if you don't purchase a good header like the TriY or LcE header then you probably won't notice much of a change in performance. Adding a cam with the header will give you optimum performance but it's not mandatory. I ran a stock motor with just a header for years and I loved it.

Thanks, seemed like a stupid question but thanks for clarification. Got a quick question though. What size is the outlet on the lcengineering headers?

Never, ever, and i mean EVER, take advice from a parts guy. there's a reason he's behind the counter and not under a hood.

The last parts guy who gave me advice said that his stock 22RE was way faster than my 3.0L with high flow cat, upgraded injectors and improved air intake . Yeah, most don't know what they are talking about. The guys at my local Napa know a bit more, but not the other stores!
