Head replacing issue 22re

1987 SR5 22re

So here is whats going on, hope someone can shine some light .

I bought this 87 sr5 a few months ago, guy said it ran, took it for a short test drive and it seemed a lil rough but for 2k I couldn't pass it up. It didn't make it 5 miles , ended up having to get it towed .
I bought a new head from a guy who upgraded his and everything was I thought exactly what was on mine already. Until I took the top off and see 2 rows of rocker arms and where I bought from the guy only has a single row. Everything else matches up like the exhaust holes (pear shaped) etc.

So any ideas?:
I'm grateful for any advice
Thanks

I know next to nothing about the 22re, but I don't see the difference (other than you have rocker arm assembly installed in the second picture).

Here's the 1993 FSM section on replacing the head. http://web.archive.org/web/201211101.../7cylinder.pdf Perhaps the drawings will help.

:bang: thank you so much.
I feel like a bit of a dumb ass now , that's what I get when I go to work on the truck after working 10 hrs. Lol thanks again

Worth noting that it appears someone has replaced the original headbolts with studs. You’ll need the correct 12 point socket for those.
