Head replacing issue 22re
1987 SR5 22re
So here is whats going on, hope someone can shine some light . I bought this 87 sr5 a few months ago, guy said it ran, took it for a short test drive and it seemed a lil rough but for 2k I couldn't pass it up. It didn't make it 5 miles , ended up having to get it towed . I bought a new head from a guy who upgraded his and everything was I thought exactly what was on mine already. Until I took the top off and see 2 rows of rocker arms and where I bought from the guy only has a single row. Everything else matches up like the exhaust holes (pear shaped) etc. So any ideas?: I'm grateful for any advice Thanks |
One row of rockers????? We need a picture, please

I know next to nothing about the 22re, but I don't see the difference (other than you have rocker arm assembly installed in the second picture).
Here's the 1993 FSM section on replacing the head. http://web.archive.org/web/201211101.../7cylinder.pdf Perhaps the drawings will help. |
:bang: thank you so much.
I feel like a bit of a dumb ass now , that's what I get when I go to work on the truck after working 10 hrs. Lol thanks again |
Worth noting that it appears someone has replaced the original headbolts with studs. You’ll need the correct 12 point socket for those.
