Head Gasket????

Hi Guys My Buddy Recently Bought A 4runner From A Single Owner And Is Now Havin Problems With The Head Gasket. The Owner Never Replaced The Head Gasket. Ive Read Alot On Here About How Bad They Were. Just Curious, Is Their A Recall On Them Or Are You Out Of Luck And On Your Own When One Goes Bad? Thanks For The Help
