Head bolt stripped during installation, redo right?
Details: 3VZE on a 88’ 4Runner
So I stripped the #3 bolt on the right head, the last 90 degree turn didn’t feel nearly as tight. I checked, not even 75ft-lbs. Is the block stripped or the bolt? The other head went on perfect.
I think the right thing to do is take the head off, investigate the block/bolt, replace gasket and bolts. Right?
Thanks people.

As I pulled that last quarter turn it just felt like lower resistance, it is about 65 ft-lbs I’ll have to check that tomorrow morning. I checked the other bolts and 75 ft-lbs doesn’t budge any of them.

Did you tap the threads? As crucial as head bolt torque is if it were me and i doubted the integrity of the block threads I'd tear it apart and verify the problem however if it's not obvious that its stripped maybe the thread were dirty
