here are some forums of guys who have been using Durabak on their rocker panels and the second is a guy who did his whole truck. Durabak has a u.v. addative that you can get the prevents the fading. Most seemed to be pretty happy with it, though there was some covtoversy over whether it is best to roll it on or spray in on yourself. I have also heard of other products being used called U-POL and LinerXtreme.

I'm going to get mine Line-X'd white, but not until June/July at the earliest. Need to finish suspension work then figure something out for my rockers/quarters

Al's bed liner has UV resistance substances in it to prevent fading. theres an FJ80 on here that is fully sprayed with a tan color. and its holding up after 8-9 months now? lemme see if i can find it.

It depends on if I want to to the prep work, or how much of it I'll do. I'm actually thinking about doing none of it, just so I know it's done right. I'm thinking $600-800 if they do prep work. They want as little bondo as possible on the 4Runner.so I have to get new rockers & quarters (weld in arches) from Toyotafiberglass.com. I already put new fenders on and I bought a tailgate from 85toyman rust free from west coast.
They charge us (as in us, I mean the Toyota dealer I work for) around $300 for a Tundra bed, so my entire 2nd gen 4runner roughly twice the surface area. Once I get it road worthy again, (front end apart doing lift, new BJs, tierods etc)< I'm going to take it to them to get an estimate. I'm hoping I can get it back together by the end of February.
Game plan is LineX body white, AllPro rock rails in black, Addicted front bumper black & bushwackers black with a set of 33x12.5's on Crager Soft 8's also in black.
As far as weight, it's merely a guess of 70-100lbs or so

anyone looking at doing this, let me give you a heads up.
last summer i was looking into doing this, i talked to a guy i know, who works at a shop that sprays the liner. i was asking him what he thought (rough estimate) if i were to get my whole truck sprayed. He said well it all depends on how much prep work we have to do, i told him i would have all the prep work done and all they would have to do is roll in the shop and spray it.
600-800 (mentioned above) is about what you can expect to pay if you do your own prep work. not if they do it.
There is substantial amount of labor gone into the prep work, as you will know once you start it, i was told the actual spraying of the truck and having it completed is nothing near the amount of work gone into the prep.
So if you want it done, i advise you to talk to you shop ahead of time, and have them give you a price based on roll in, spray, roll out. you will save LOTS of money, and you will of had a hand in it. But if you just got the money to blow, and feel like blowing it. Come on down to Albany, Ga and we can drop our trucks off at the same time. Ill spend your money with a smile on my face
The only thing that has stopped me is from doing it, is the simple fact of the fading that i have heard about or seen pictures of online. If it starts to fade in 10 years, o well, if it starts to fade next year, we got a problem.
also i think the black would look awesome but could you imagine, getting in your truck after its been sitting in the sun all day?!?!?
