I am in college now over in eastern washington where there is a crap load of snow and ice. I picked up the Maxxis Bighorn Radials with studs and mounted them on a set of "unknown brand" 15x8 rims. There are some good logging road areas around here and a little mud. Haven't gotten the chance test them good in the mud but they are really a smooth rolling tire. I will post some pictures as soon as i find the cord for the freakin' camera.

Thanks! I got the wheels with some old crappy tires on them for a 100 bucks and repainted them with dupont wheel paint.

hey man, good looking tires, porps on getting into eastern, im at BCC but i hope to transfer to UW or WSU
once i install my lift we should go out Wheeling, i got all the parts, just waiting a few to arrive in the mail.

well those work well!!! I took the truck up into the hills for a while today and the tires work great. got into compact snow and ice, no problem. I hit this one hill off the side of the road just really soft glacial till. I had gone up this before with my A/T's and i was spinning in 2nd gear 4Lo. Made it up but spinning. With the Maxxis', I kept it just above idle and 1st gear 4 lo it just clawed it's way up. No spin. I turned around on the side of the hill, so I to back up off the trail into softer soil and it had no problem. So then i thought, why not go up the top part backwards? Again no problem. Great tires. I would definitely take them into consideration when picking mud terrain.

I'm not surprised they do well on snow/ mud, but how are they in the rain or just on road in general? Loud? Stopping ability? I am inquiring as much about the studs as the tires.

They have surprisingly good road manners, for a mud terrain. Yeah, they whine, but is not bad. Stopping ability, is that of a slightly heavier tire, but still quite good. I am running then down around 35 pounds, so they don't roll as well as my a/t's that i had a 40-45. I haven't had a whole lot of time in the wet stuff yet. I hit a few puddles of standing water on the roads and they didn't even come close to hydroplaning. So far i am impressed.

I really like the Maxxis big horn tires, just finished a 1500 mile trip with them. Like Alex said, they whine but not tooooooo bad. They did great in the soft mud and also the rocks of the Northeast.
