Good Grief- shock question> Search, I know.
Help a guy out eh?
I blew out on of my flipping bilsteins and can't get one here in time for next weekends run. The truck is "interesting" in left hand turns at even low speeds at the moment, so I need a replacement.
I searched around and found stuff for 2nd gens and crap, but I need some cheapo, napa-style, that'll fit my rig.
Stock mount locations on a first gen, sits at stock height, but has more flex, due to longer shackles and super sagged downey springs.
Called the local napa, and they were total dip sticks, trying to tell me that my rear end had the same shocks as the front.
Anyone got cheap stuff they've used on their trucks? Or something that really sucked and they'd never try again?
I need to run these for the summer, until my new axle gets finished, and I can put it under the truck. I need new shocks with that anyway, so I don't want to spend money on something nice right now.
Probably more details than were needed, but hey.

go to the junkyard and try to pick up some used shocks...call around to local off road shops and see if they have anything used laying around... put a wanted ad on craigslist
all else fails get a new one from the toyota dealer

Its for the rears.
I'm looking for local solutions, can't wait on shipping and all that BS.
I'm wondering if anyone has a part number for a roughly 10" travel shock thats cheap, and new. Sorry for the confusion. I was dead tired last night, so my post wasn't all that clear.
Thanks.

Isaac, one surefire (and pain in the butt) method is to flex out your truck, measure the minimum distance, and the maximum distance, and pick out a Rancho shock that meets your needs.

napa cheapie rear shock for an 85 (first gen runner)
Napa Response
RR 94112 - Compressed Length:13.625",Extended length:21.625, 8" travel
List: 36.88
Some other shocks avalable at napa but they don't have any more travel.
If you need a part number for napa parts or something looked up just PM me I have a napaprolink account
May have to go to autozone or another pace to see if they have something with 10" travel
