Good deal on 1994 4Runner?

Ok, today me and my buddy looked at a 3.slow 1994 4Runner, (it's for him). First the good It's got 210k on the clock, and about 30k on a new engine and transmission. Tires have pretty good tread, electronics are in working order, heat and AC both work well. Transmission feels solid, clutch grabs low, and strong. says 4WD works good, and has automatic hubs up front.

Now for the bad. The brakes all have to be replaced, the steering feels like it's wandering pretty bad. The guy said the engine runs well, but needs new plugs (it ran really bad while I was driving it). Body has rust on it, the worst being the hatch door.

What would you guys estimate in repairs assuming most of it was done by us, and not a mechanic.

As for the price, $1900. Assuming everything he said was honest is this a good price. I think i might ask to have the plugs replaced and test drive it again.

That's a big "It Depends". Steering is probably pretty minor. Who knows about the motor - a 30k Toy motor really shouldn't need anything. I seriously doubt it just needs plugs (if it did, why doesn't the dude pay the $15 or whatever for plugs and sell the truck for another grand?).

Then what does it mean "the brakes need to be replaced?".

Take it to a mechanic and get an estimate.

I agree, take it to a mechanic and have it inspected.
