Gen II 4Runner and LPV
 

Has anyone with a Gen II 4Runner tried anything to get rid of that PITA LPV ?

LSPV, the load sensing proportioning valve I think.

I know what a lSpv is...not an LPV tho. And if we are talking LSPV, why would you want to get rid of it?? You will need some sort of Proportioning valve for the rear brakes, or they will just lock up all the time.

I'm assuming LSPV is what he is talking about. I have heard it called the LPV before.

Many peopl opt to replace it with a standard proportioning valve and just set the brakes at 65/35 and leave it.

yea, i've seen that too. Most of the time when they do the LC MC mod, then they just put the LPV up by the MC so its easy to adjust

LSPV/LPV, yes, I'm talking about the load sensing proportioning valve.
Why remove it ?
- It's in the way of some of the rear suspension parts when you want to lift or otherwise modify the rear suspension, such as doing a triangulated rear, etc.
- It "adjust" the pressure to the rear brakes based on the position of the axle relative to the frame.
- This means, that when you're off road, rockcrawling, the LSPV is constantly changing the rear brake bias as the vehicle flexes over the rocks, not a good thing.

My thought would be, though I haven't looked at it closely yet, would be to see if it could be completely removed and replaced with an adjustable prop. valve that would be placed up front by the MC. This wouldn't be a dynamically adjusting prop. valve, but a manually adjustable one. Adjust it once to get the rear bias right and leave it alone.
