Gear ratio?

Just wondering what the rear end gear ratio is on my '92...I'm thinking 4.56?

Am I correct?

jimbo74 Dec 16, 2004 04:27 PM

what are the specs on it? the axle ratio is listed in the door jamb or underhood on the vin plate

jimbo74 Dec 16, 2004 04:28 PM

also now that i think about it, no toyota had a 4.56 ratio stock... the lowest i beleive was a 4.30

SR5 5-speed 4X4 3.0

I know its gotta be something in the 4's.... Its geared really low. I know I'm doing about 4K rpm doing 90 mph on the highway...lol.

Axle code B04A is 4.56 gears from the factory :)

B04A 4.56 2 pinion open 7.5" ring gear

"Most Toys sold in the US have 4.10 axle gearing, but this isn't always the case. Four cylinder models with auto trannies often have 4.30 gearing, (4.87 if they came factory-equipped with 31" tires). All V6's with 31" tires and 4-cylinder manuals with 31" tires usually had 4.56 gears. And still others have been changed by their owners, to move oversized tires."

Seeing as it came with 31" tires stock....guess it does have the 4.56

Thanks for the help.

eh ok..... that works too ;)

Tacoma V6's with 31's tires almost always have 4.10's from the factory.

why dont you just look up the axle code and then decode it?

Your right, but i think were talking about a 2nd gen 4runner. If It has 31" and a 5 speed id bet money that its got 4.56 gears.

The post says "Most Toys sold in the US..." not "Most 4Runners sold in the US..." but fine! Be that way :P hahahha
