Gave the truck a trim job Today..

So, after listening to constant wind noise, losing power at higher speeds, and a certain affect on my fuel economy, i decided before i take a trip next week that i would remove my Visor.

Pics for you all...

Pre Removal (Never once did i say i didnt like it...)

First Pic of her naked.

Damage.

I Think the Gaskets need replaced.. Oh Joy!

More Damage.

Look at all this Carnage and Destruction... Its gonna cost some $$$ to fix it...

Looks... Alien to me.

Off with the old.

My Two Yotas, L to R, Piece Of Toyota (P.O.S.T.), and, THE Love of My Life..

I Know, what a big fuss about a visor, but darnit, you guys all do cool mods, and i dont have money to do that, so im gonna show you the boring stuff i do!

Opinions on the appearance?

Haha, The A.E. 86, got that for 250 bucks! The only drifting it can do though is E-brake drifting.

4A-C with Multiport injection self advancing (F.I. Carb) carb = The worst of toyota carbouration. That SOB bogs down after about a third of the pedal, and it hesitates. Toyota says thats as good as it gets too. Plus its an auto... Only the SR5 trim, but its an 87, so its still full RWD. May be for sale...

The visor, i was gonna hang on to it and maybe put it on and off for when im not taking trips (it looked REALLY good to me, i miss it already!), but after doing 75 tonight and hitting a wind drift that DIDNT slow me down 5 mph, im never putting it back on! I guess its for sale if someone wants to buy it. I could use the cash. All the lights work and stuff.

AE86's around here are really rare, let alone done up. Swap the engine if ur felling lucky.

Maybe the visor is just as bad as a bug shield in terms of aerodynamics and the cool factor.

Yeah the visor is possibly the worst aerodynamic thing that someone could have put on that truck.

I want a car for fuel milage that i dont have to mess with. Id just drive the heck out of that car, but im the kind that doesnt like to see a rare car die. not too many A.E. 86 coupes driving around, let alone in the blue metallic color. I want an older camry with a 5 speed, but tracking down someone that wants to trade is proving to be quite difficult. Heck, id even drive an older Yota with an auto, so long as its Fuel Injected.

looks better without the visor, IMO.

bondo of fiberglass filler will fix those holes like nothin' else. paint will cost you (painting a roof) but it looks like it might want a new coat anyway.

LS1 the corolla.

if i had the time and money to invest in that corolla, it would be my project car.

Heres what i would do:

1. Engine swap. prolly a 4a-fe silver top 20v with a 5 speed.
2. Body. Paint it all black and put on a GT-S factory body kit
3. Interior. Put in a working radio and swap it to a gray interior
4. Wheels. Mark III Supra alloys with Toyo tires of some sort.

I highly dislike toyota blue interiors big time. Funny i own 2 vehicles with them in it.

Seriously, anyone interested in trading the car for an older camry/corolla that is EFI equipped and FWD?

Or, does anyone wanna buy it? EVERYTHING works, except the radio. Its a 2 owner vehicle (in the same family, im the 3rd.) Interior has some plastic fade, rub marks, can be fixed with some armor all. I just shampooed the car. Only one tear in the upholstery. Its on the drivers seat. Has the sun roof, and it works, no problems. It has a/c, just needs charged. Tires are about 75 tread life, with one mis match. Rust is no more than typical for this car. Has 168k miles and is completely unmolested. Timing belt was just done 1 k ago. regular oil changes. 650 for a weber carb and a performance cam guaranteed to add 40 H.P., making a nice little car. I just dont have 650..

I've actually heard that the bug deflector things are BETTER for aerodynamics. Not in the sense of drag on the vehicle, but in terms of wind gusts, at least for trucks and other moving boxes.

For instance, if you're getting passed by or passing a semi or dock truck of some sort. You can feel the gusts generated by the displaced air from the sheer size of the vehicle. Those gusts can throw the vehicle around as you're passing. With a bug shield on, there's enough downforce generated on the front of the vehicle to help reduce the effect of the gusts pushing side to side.

I don't speak from experience, just what I've heard. I think 4Crawler has info on this on his website somewhere.
