Fuel pump bracket

Bought a new fuel pump bracket from toyota for my 87 pickup.. it only has 2 lines from it(main and return)
my question is how does the tank vent?
I've converted mine to EFI so nothing to compare to
any input would be a huge help!

Are you sure that's the fuel pump bracket for a 22re? If it's for a 22r, then you have a main and vent. For a fuel injected engine, you'll need main, return, and vent.

yeah its definitely for a 22re... it has the mount for the fuel pump. I've heard the tank has a vent? Anyone elaborate?

Both my 87 4Runner and my 88 Pickup have 22RE's. Both of them have a sender with a high pressure main, and two low pressure barbed fittings for a return and a vent. What's the part number for the sending unit you have? What year, model, and engine is it for?

the part number is 23206-35121. Its supposed to be for an 88 extended cab pickup 22re 4x4

Theres gotta be a toyota guru on here that can identify why I only have a main and a return! Please help!

From what I see, it looks like you need 23206-35101

I'm no guru. But this is a head-scratcher. According to this dealer site: https://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/p/_...320635121.html ,
https://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/p/_...320635101.html
both of those part numbers match to an '87 pickup. (All fuel injected, of course. The 22r doesn't have an in-tank fuel pump. oops!)

And both of those part numbers come with a whole collection of drawings, showing completely different brackets (some with, some without, the vent).

I'm over my pay-grade here.

Thanks for the info! I believe I'm gonna try and exchange mine, dont see how the fuel tank can vent without that third line. Much appreciated!

I don't know where you got the bracket, but if it came from someone knowledgeable they might know how some 22re's can use a bracket without a vent line. Maybe some came with a separate vent fastened to the tank? It's a mystery to me.

I believe the 19 gallon tanks (used on extra cab and long bed Pickups) use the sender with two ports, and the 17 gallon tanks (used on standard cab/short bed Pickups and all 4Runners) used the three port senders. The 19 gallon tanks have the third port built in. This research was all done for 1985-1988/89 22RE powered Pickups/4Runners. Not sure if it applies to other generations and engines.

See the following RockAuto items and pictures.

19 gallon tank: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...825&cc=1277502

17 gallon tank: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...1277502&jsn=10

Okay, that makes a lot of sense. In these pictures: https://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/sho...roduct=3933681 , the 2-port and 3-port brackets are distinguished by the model number (RN101, RN106 and RN110, RN130 and RN131). The model numbers have to do with bed length and cab length (I don't know which is which, but the number comes right out of the VIN).
