FJ Cruiser Wheels for 2nd/3rd gen pickups, 4Runners: Thoughts, Experiences?

You can find bargains on these in wrecking yards. I think these wheels were first introduced to about 10 years ago. In the Midwest, where I live, wheels on daily driven cars are subjected to harsh conditions, including heavy exposure to road salt. After 10 years of that kind of use It is not surprising to see wheels that are cosmetically less-than-perfect. I have seen some wheels around here that have oxidized finishes going for as little as $35 apiece. I would refinish mine in black anyway so a little oxidation is no big deal. They are sized at 17 x 7.5" and I believe that the backspacing is 5 inches. I am thinking of running 255 75R17 Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 as winter tires, which are, for all intents and purposes, skinny 33 inch tires that come in at a nice fuel-efficient weight of 41 pounds per tire. I don't like the 5 inch backspace, but if the wheels look as good in real life as they do in this picture I would consider running spacers. Any thoughts or experiences to relate are not only welcome, but encouraged.

I am thinking of this tire as a good match for the FJ wheel. It's available in P255 75R17 with actual dimensions of 32.1” x 10.00 x 17”, which makes it just 0.4” less tall than 33 10.50R15 and about a half an inch narrower in the cross section and in the tread width. It has a UTQG rating of 600 AB. As far as I can tell only Michelin's have a better rating in this size and type of tire. These tires are also pretty light, at 41 pounds apiece, which suggest that they will be good on fuel economy. Just going by the numbers and the appearance I am guessing these would make an excellent all-around tire and a good winter tire for snowpacked roads. I just put a pair on the back of my 1989 4runner in P265 75R16 (32x10.50R16).

I am particularly interested in finding out about any problems the 5" backspacing that these wheels have might present?
