Fixed the Even Gear Shifting Problem
After installing my 3" 4Crawler BL I had problems keeping my truck in 2nd and 4th gear (would pop out of gear as soon as I let off the gas). Roger has some really good information on his site to fix this and I am hoping that me making this thread will make fixing this caveat even faster.
Like my sig says I am running a 1994 Pickup 2wd 22re with a short bed. To fix the shifting problem I pulled up the carpet in the cab and accessed the Rounded square retainer that holds the shift boot in place. I unscrewed the retainer and pulled the 2, yes that is 2, shift boots apart. The inner boot I inverted and pushed down below the cab and then put everything back together. After finishing this I realized it might of been easier to just stick a coat hanger from below the truck up inside the Shift Boot to snag the inner boot and bring it down. I did not know there were 2 boots though . I hope this helps someone else who may be in the same situation. May just save some time! |
Yep, did that a few years ago :)
