Finding a short,on the tailight,dashlight,trailer light curcit!
I've searched and read and now I'm still at odds with my wiring.
My 87' 4Runner 22RE is blowing the #8 fuse.This fuse controls the dash lights,tail lights(running lights),parking lights,and trailer light harness.
I have checked my dimmer switch(reostat.),trailer harness, and taped up every bare wire I have found. I cand seem to find my short. I belive that it is in the radio wires. The previous owner removed the radio. Last night I took all the zip ties off of that area of the harness, double check all my electrical taped wires and had the cig lighter un plugged. and bare wires taped.
The fuse didn't blow. I zip tied wires out of the way and place the dash bezel back on,cig un plugged, still blowing fuses.
Does anyone have any ideas. I think that it may be arcing threw some old wires when I zip tie them up. Would a kinked wire cause this? I don't think it would but would the tail light relay cause this? I am so close but so far,and need my baby back... I just got her running with the duals and all so I need to feed my wheeling addiction!

short
Seems you were fine until you screwed the dash panel back on. I would remove it and see if the fuses hold. If so look for a wire getting pinched when the panel is in place.
