Hey All,

I purchased the suction hose for my '90 22RE, but was told that the discharge hose is discontinued! Kragen doesn't have 'em, Autozone sent me the wrong one (go figure), Napa's a "no." Even tried RockAuto and Toyota of Texas! I'd like to find one to complete my rebuild of the unit so there's no weak links. Ideas?

Werid, Napa still shows the part as active in their system. It prolly just hasn't been removed from the system yet if it has been discontinued

Just in case they tried to give you the run around saying "I cant find it, or we don't carry it" ect, which happens a lot. The discharge hose part number is TEM 282728. Its a spendy little jewel too lists for 103.69. (90 4runner 22re)



I can't think of any online retailers that would have the hose atm sorry. Hopefully somebody will chime in soon that has found one.

I'll have to try again, using that part number, but HOLY SMOKES!! The stealership only lists them for ~$47.00 before the were discontinued! What flavor Kentucky jelly does that come with?

Yea I was shocked to see the price in the system, but that's full list so i would estimate around $80 for a normal walk in. Depends on how much they like ya at the local Napa

I just called my local dealer here in Ontario.

California depot shows they have them. My Price $247.40 CDN

Compressor to Condensor hose. The connection sucked, but I think he said the part number was 88723-35090.

When we couldn't get 'em the local auto a/c and radiator repair shop would fabricate what we needed. Maybe someone around your abouts could do something like that for you.

Find a place around were you live that can make you a new hose, if you can`t find a new one anywere.

Problem is, the orifice is in the discharge hose! They can re-use the ends, but the orifice/filter won't be included. Tried...

I "think" I might have a line on one in Tennessee thru Napa...

Orifice in the tube? WTF?

it's the discharge tube so it goes from the pump to the evap under the dash and just in front of the evap is the orifice tube, a.k.a. (to some) expansion valve, which holds the pressure back to help the refrigerant undergo phase change from liquid to vapor and thus get cold.
pump>discharge(high pressure) tube>orifice tube/expansion valve>evaporator>receiver/drier/accumulator>condensor>suction(low pressure) tube>pump

Well I know what an expansion valve is. My question is how did he get an orifice in the middle of the hose? I suspect the thing he is referring to is just a filter. Those are rather generic and shouldn't keep anyone from having a hose made using the old fittings.

I guess I should've read his whole post. he does say orifice/filter so maybe it's just a debris screen.

I was told that it's an orifice, as described by Abecedarian above. Was the case on an old Taurus I used to have, and when considering just getting the hose made, got talked out of it in favor of a new piece altogether. Good thing too, as I hacksawed the old one after replacing and it was SUPER CLOGGED! Trying to avoid the same here. I guess I could be wrong, but I'm just going off of what I was told. Someone correct me if you know differently, please.

if theres a filter screening debris in there and its not "bad" just clogged, then couldnt you run water down the hose backwards to unclog it??

I'm obviously no A/C expert, but it's my understanding that introducing ANY moisture to the system is a bad idea. Besides, 18+ year old hoses should probably be changed out anyhow. I see your logic, though.

If the filter is clogged, there must be a reason for it. The filter is generally there to catch debris from a compressor failure.
