What'ca guys think is a fair price to sell my 90 4x4 5 speed Runner for ?

90 Runner 4x4 3vze, sunroof.

Rebuilt engine, new pistons, rings, bearings, gaskets, water pump, oil pump, heads microfluxed, three angle valve grind, new valve seals, valves adjusted,
new clutch, flywheel resurfaced, new seal on tranny input shaft.

Passed Cali smog, Flowmaster muffler, good 31's.

Hard to price somthing that you can't see.

Understandable.

New NGK plugs and wires, dist cap and rotor (Beck Arnley)

Seen several of that quality in my neck of the woods, standard pickup and SR5's, with all the goodies rebuilt or new go for better than $6k. The ones of that quality that I've seen sell recently I think the seller got somewhere in the neighborhood of $6,500. Yours of course is a 4Runner, not a pickup, so I'd expect to see it for a couple hundred more.

I certainly wouldn't sell it for less than what you've got in it.

A guy I know paid about $4500 for a shop to do the same work I did on a 89' Toy p/u.

She doe's run great, starts right up, great oil pressure,water temp barley budged with a 6000' foot vert climb with air temps about 80f.

Around here in WV that could go anywhere from 3,000 to 7,000 depending on who's wanting it and for what reason. I'd at least have a starting price at 6,000 and always make room to negotiate.

id say a fair asking price is 5500.. expect 5k. i cant imagine paying 6k for a stock second gen, even if it was the cleanest one ive ever seen. a but thats from NC, theyre cheaper here i guess..

It all comes down to just how bad you need to sell!!

If your in no real hurry someone will come along and fall in love with it and give you your price.

The used vehicle market is pretty much a local thing influenced by the economic conditions of your area.

Then you also have again the negative brain washing of the 3.0

For CA, i'd start at $6k and work down from there. you'll probably end up around low 5k, really depends

how many miles are on the chassis/rebuild. is it a 5spd or auto?

For rebuild/repairs you're not going to get back what you put into it. If you install a new water pump you can't raise the price by $700 to cover parts and labor, you just keep the price from lowering due to needed maintenance. The engine rebuild helps, but a low mileage engine is better than a rebuild. How many miles do you have?

My brother just bought a 95 4Runner up in NorCal for $4500 and only had 90k miles on it. Yours looks clean, which goes a long way (no one wants to buy a dirty/rusty vehicle). I think like others have said, for CA $6k is a good starting point since people will low-ball any price you set anyway. Expect around $4500 to $5k.

Don't need to sell her at all.

275k it's a 5 speed, I don't like autos

$4500 would work for me, bought it for a grand, put $2500 into it for repairs
so I'd put a grand in my pocket for my work, buy another one with a blown engine and do it again.

the local machine shop will rebuild a short block for $600.
Gaskets and bolts, $250.

I have all the tools and a cherry picker.
Plus I'm a glutton for punishment, 3vze punishment that is.

You bet you could! Engine rebuilds aren't too crazy if you have the tools and the means to pull an engine.

I would ask for more than $4500 for your old 4Runner, people are gonna low ball you for $4k or $3500. It's worth more than that.

I don't mind working on 3vze's, after all the work I've done on my GM 3100(L82), the 3vze is a piece of cake.

If you think changing plugs on the 3vze is hard try changing plugs on a GM L82.

If you do end up flipping it, you might want to consider a paint job too. I looked closer a second time and it's weathered pretty bad.

Looks are everything when selling a car/truck since most people don't know a thing about engines.

I know a guy who can shoot DuPont LP pretty damn good.

The 3100 in my 95' GA is a real sardine in a can, them plugs in the rear are a REAL female dog.
