Exhaust for 94 4x4 SR5 Pickup w/California Emissions?
Hi all!
Long time lurker, first time poster. Great site you got here.
I've been looking for a CAT-back (center pipe, muffler, and tailpipe) exhaust unit for my 1994 Toyota 4x4 SR5 Pickup. It has a 3.0L V6 engine (3VZE). It is an Xtra Cab with the extra long wheel base (121" XLWB) and has a California Emissions setup (not quite sure how the $*^%# it got to VT, but it did ). I picked it up used a few years ago.
I had my dealer look up the part number from my VIN and it comes up 1743065240, and lists for $316.00
So, I go to http://www.1sttoyotaparts.com/ and see what they want for it. I did a parts number search and get a message that part number 1743065240 has been superceded by part number 17430YZZQ7 and they only want $138 + Shipping for it.
Sounds great, right?
Well, I had my dealer look up part number 17430YZZQ7 and he never heard of it. The price seems to be too good to be true, but I got the same message at http://www.toyotapartscheap.com/ So, I don't know what to think.
Anybody know anyting about the part being "superceded" I got the same message from both sites, but my dealer doesn't show squat on his computer about it.
Anybody know where to get an aftermarket or cheaper version of this oddball exhaust?
Many thanks for any input, Mike

No luck yet. I'll probably end up biting the bullet and getting the dealer part before I need to get her inspected in December. I suppose I could take it to a custom shop and have them build me an exhaust, but if I buy the part I can do it myself. It's loud as he!! right now, but still getting along.
If you find a good / cheap solution, stop back and let us know
Good luck, Mike

Actually, that looks really good. He said they do one for a V6. Wish he was around here. I'd bet shipping on an entire intact exhaust system would be a bit hefty, and if it didn't quite fit my oddball truck ...

I need to make decision on an exhaust Im wondering if anyone can tell me the difference between the stock California emissions cat-back system Vs. the standard one? I would assume the pipe diameters are smaller but is the hole to hole dimension on the flange different as well. I could easily fab an adapter....it would be worth it given the difference in price between the 2 versions. Thanks for any advice.
