ever burnt a yota starter up?
I just wonder cause i cant think what else would have my starter just stop working.
You can hear the solnoid hitting, but no rur-rur
The motor hasnt been the easyest starting because the motor still fresh. It stalled on me today when i was out running erronds around the neighborhood and wouldnt start, after a few min of trying to start it the starter no longer seems to be doing its thing.
ive got an extra starter so it should be simple matter of swaping out if i cant figure something out. I had just hopped to put off changing the starter with the new downey headers....
anyway this whole thing hasnt gone as smoothly as id hope. I suppose its to be expected as this is my "First" but still....
oh well rant over i suppose...

The starter is the biggest drawing thing on the rig. If the charging system is failing or the battery leads are dirty...a start will do just what you said.
A quick test would be to leave the door open as you turn the key to start the rig, does the dome light Dim big time? If yes, that would point me to dirty leads/bad ground/dieing alt/dieing battery.
No dome light, use the head lights.
There is two places to check on the battery cables. Where they hook to the battery and where the red/black wires hook to the lead that hooks to the battery.
If the lights do not dim, have someone hold the key in the start position, tap on the starter with a small hammer. If it starts spinning then...change it out.

if you're getting a click but no turning over, your contacts are probably fried and either need to be filed, or replaced. pretty easy job, and even from the dealer the contacts aren't usually more than 20 bucks.

Yep, had the same thing a couple weeks ago, and a couple since then. I was at a gas station...went to leave, and click, click. I was like wtf? So I got under the thing and saw the starter wire thing hanging there...it must've fell out of the starter or something...so I shoved it back in there, and it started. Same thing the other day....it didn't fall out, but I kinda wiggled it and stuck it back in there and started up fine.

nope i check the contacts just before i put it back in when i droped my motor in what... last month?
something internal went wrong.
After fighting it for about an hr i wiggled it out past the downey headers, (had to jack the motor up again like on my NWOR headers to get it out)
bench test shows the gear pop out, but not spin. so i know the contacts are good as it wouldnt popout if the motor wasnt getting juice.
so im going to bolt on my extra one and hopefully not have problems with that one.

When my starter seemingly took a ลลลล a couple weeks ago, the problem ended up being a badly corroded positive battery cable. Check all your connections and grounds before you go replacing expensive parts.
edit: saw your last post. If it's not spinning, you probably do have a problem with the starter
