erratic idle (89 sr5)

hi everyone!
I've just driven a good 1800km and now my idle is very erratic. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction into where I can start to diagnose this issue. thanks

in the video I am not touching the throttle
if I turn the truck off for a bit, it goes away then comes back after 10 minutes or so. doesn't idle erraticly when it's cold, starts to after a good 1/2 hour of driving

thank you

Does it happen with AC on or off? Is your timing and idle rpm set correctly?
I had that issue once. It occurred when I was driving at highway speed with AC on and stopped at exit ramp.
Then went away when I adjusted my idle rpm.

the a/c compressor won't engage, so when I turn on the a.c. it still idles erraticly but at a higher rpm. although if I tap the throttle it seems to stop it for a few seconds

before it was just surging around 500-750 rpm but now it's jumping almost to 2000rpm randomly and yes if I turn on the a.c. it shoots higher

500-700 rpm is too low. Something is thinking idle is too high bringing it down then, something else forces it up.
Simple things first. Did you try actually setting the idle with an real tachometer? It fixed my issue.

timing belt was done about 1000km ago along with the crank and cam seals, and the problem existed beforehand so I don't think it's the timing.

tried playing with the idle screw with not much success. I could try adjusting it with a real tech although the idle is all over the map, going from surging between 500-750 then randomly shooting up to about 1500rpm and surging up there. I think it would be quite difficult to adjust the idle when the idle Is so unstable. I think I will go and pick up a feeler gauge set and check the tps next

threw another vid together. let it sit for a bit and started it, idle is stable but high (1100rpm) and the idle screw is as far in as it goes. checked for vacuum leaks and nothing

Yes, check your TPS for spec.
Also I would change the o-ring on the idle screw, they get hard and are often overlooked.
