Engine swap question.
Hi All. I have a 22re engine out of 1992 toyota truck.
I found a 1989 toyota truck with a blown 22re. Will everything line up? 2 year difference, wondering how much changed? Thanks. Tim. |
Should fit, almost a direct swap.
A few differences to watch out for: -wire colors -vacuum lines -exhaust -emissions -ecm If you think you can handle turning a wrench, you should be fine. |
injectors are not compatible with each other, different resistance values. '89 was a one-year only injector. also, that's a three-year difference, not two.

If you do a "long block" swap (re use your intake and exhaust manifold and all accessories and dizzy - and they are both "lazer" blocks (which off the cuff they are) then Im pretty sure everything works.....
But I can see that it can be "faster" to just stab it in there... |
Thank you guy for feedback. As always was a great help!
|
Good to know 1989 had its own injectors.
|
Good luck, keep us posted!

For some reason, I thought it was the 1988 trucks that had the one-year-only injectors...
I could be thinking of something else though. :safari: |
