Engine rebuild and simplification
 

I am rebuilding my 89 yota pickup, 3.0 V6 3vze, with 4 wheel drive. I have already deleted the egr system and now I'm wanting to go a step further and remove the AC system, it doesn't work anyway. I'm not worried about the how of removing the compressor and other components, my only question is dots this system run independent or does it tie into anything else. Just wondering if anyone has already removed these components.

Everything under the hood can be removed pretty easily. Yes, I've done it. Discharging the refrigerant is the part that will kill you...literally. You need to be careful with that stuff. I don't recommend fooling with it if you don't know what you're doing, or rather what you need to avoid doing. It's not a "safe" procedure to release the stuff directly to the atmosphere. Regardless of how it's done.

I work in refrigeration and have both a reclaiming machine and reclaim tanks so that's no issue. I'm just asking if it will mess with the operation of the truck if I permanently remove them?

as long as you have a plan for the drive belt routing, i'm not seeing any issue?

i have a 22re, and i ended up replacing the factory ac pump with a big ac pump out of a v8, and turning it into an air compressor.

i haven't pulled the ac hardware out of the cab tho, and in looking at it the other day, i may need to replace a part or two in the airflow path with non-ac stuff... you may want to check that out.

the only other thing i had was an idle-up air circuit that i disconnected and plugged.

No belt to route. Once you remove the compressor and idler pulley, there's no reason, or means, to run the belt.

It's probably not the same as a 22RE.
