Electrical Gemlin
suddenly I ran into trouble with my 93 22re truck.
First the em2 fuse link blew leaving me stopped. Replaced fuse drove a couple days no problem. Then the headlights started flickering. Then the next day the truck wouldn’t start. Battery gauge showed 8v. Replaced battery, started fine, was charging at 14v. Then driving to work it started overcharging up to 14.5v and the tachometer was behaving erratic. This lasted about 10 seconds. Then the truck died no battery power to vehicle. Towed home. New battery still reads 12v on volt meter. There does not appear to be any blown fuses currently. Any ideas? |

Got multi-meter? Inspect your wiring for shorts to ground, broken wires, etc. |

14.5 is not overcharging (search "how charging system works")

13.5 to 15.1V depending on temperature.
Yes, gotta dig into the harness, especially the think "B" Cable. What's EM2? Care to share schematic so we can better help? Then the truck died no battery power to vehicle.. Connections have bare, shiny metal tightly contacting bare, shiny metal? Repeat: Got multi-meter? |
Then it might be as simple as a poor ground connection
Second guess . Shorted Diode in the rectifier ?? most likely would open the main circuit protection I think OP might have meant the 30 amp AM2 Fuse or fusible link depending what that has |

Yes, gotta dig into the harness, especially the think "B" Cable. What's EM2? Care to share schematic so we can better help? But you said your new battery has 12V on gage. How did you you know no battery power to vehicle? Connections have bare, shiny metal tightly contacting bare, shiny metal? Repeat: Got multi-meter? |

Did you replace it WITH a fusible link? If you just put a chunk of wire in there, you're bypassing what kept your truck from catching on fire a few days ago. |
I appreciate your help but That part is not applicable here. This is a 93 pu with 22re engine. The wiring goes from the battery directly to the 80 amp fuse aka fusible link. There are also 30a and 40a fusible links. I have replaced the battery, fuse box supply wiring, and all 3 large fuses. Everything is working very well again, charging to a max 14.0v 😉 tried including a photo but it’s not working off the phone anyway you get the idea case closed all good. |

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...1c3338b7cb.png It's your truck (and your life); you can bypass all the fuses too if you want. i wish you the best of luck. |
Like scope says ^^^
