Ecu relocation

Went wheeling yesterday, this time I went further exploring. Long story short i wanted to get into the creek, 3 ways in. path a choose was to ride above a mud pit. either way it went you had to go through pits. ground gave and i slipped in. submerged passenger side all the way up the ecu. but not enough for ingest water.

so where are you guys relocating the ecu?

(as far as i know my truck is still sitting in that bog) got some jeepers on 54's that are gonna winch it out. just gotta get back over there sometime today. left the truck over night. and there isn't a bypass trail to get a machine in there.)

I relocated the ECU to the glovebox on a past rig, it will reach without having to extend any wires. Also, you might try waterproofing the ECU as well. A plastic bag or tupperware container with a hole cut for the wires and then sealed with silicone would work.

thanks Deathtrap. This is the first stuck/oops i've had with the truck. it's gone places it shouldn't have and others wouldn't follow. Just one of those fun filled days of wheeling. I was attempting to get to the creek, cross over and crawl/haul ass up a rock face.

i relocated mine to the glove box, but i had to extend the wiring for it to reach. i then covered the splices with a liquid electrical tape for waterproofing.

i didnt do any other waterproofing to the ecu itself as i dont really see myself fording anything that will fill the inside of my 4runner high enough to reach the glove box.

wait till you try to avoid a small mud hole. and the sides break next thing you know the front end is under 3ft of water:laugh:.

that's what happens when you have guys on 44's 1tons and whole lotta hp wheeling. holes get deeper then they look. I use a 4ft ruller to measure holes im not sure about. the holes that have rivers near are like quick sand and suck you down.

here's a pic of one of the 3 you have to pass to get to the creek.
swallowed my passenger side front at a angle like this \ where the tip would be the drivers side.
