down and dirty electrical repair is it ok

ok the battery wire on my alt has failed the terminal has broke off and the wire looks crappy
it needs to be replaced by digging back into harness to find good wire and fix it right

but it's snowing and blowing here so I thought i might be able to wire a quick link from top of alt right to battery
will this work
or does that wire go other places to

it left me in a snow storm yesterday I mamaged to get it going by just jamming wire under nut but need to do something better before monday

No the B terminal is where the wire needs to go!!

I have no idea what you are talking about on top of the alternator.

The stock wire size is 8 gauge it does not hurt to go bigger.

I would suggest either running a complete new wire or a new piece long enough to make a good splice near the fuse block.

guess I wasn't clear sorry
the wire broke at the b post of the alt and I had thought I may just be able to make a new one from the b post right to the battery but I see in your post it goes to a fuse box not directly to battery

is that the box under the hood
by pass fender
is it hard to replace at fuse box

The other end is in the fuse block and is bolted to the bottom side of the fuse block.

yes it is the one in the engine compartment. unbolt it lift it up you should be able to figure it out

If you have the crimp on terminal with the correct size ring just replace the whole wire..

Make sure of good tight crimps and tight connections or it will arc.

They go bad over time and all these vehicles need these things replaced with time.
