double bed bob?

i have been looking into bobbing my bed when i came across a truck that was double bobbed.

i think its cool but it would be a lot of work. anyways it would look something like this

before

after

the really hard part would be moving the mounts.

looks goofy to me

SwampThing 01-29-2007 07:46 PM

I like it! Go for it, and do a build up while your at it man!

Toy-SkiTzo 01-29-2007 07:46 PM

i like it, when i put my new lift SFA and my 37s it would be so nice off road.

And sorry to hijack, but I didn't wanna make another topic so similar.

Has anybody bobbed a runner? Was thinkin bout doin that, but haven't heard anything bout doin it...

I love it! Looks sort of like one of those pimp Toyota Hilux trucks.

so much work for so little movement of the axle forward. why not just ditch the bed and go flatbed and shorten the frame?

SwampThing 01-29-2007 07:54 PM

Thanks joe!

well the chop would shorten my wheelbase by about 5 inches, and all i really wanna do is offset the 2.5 im going to gain with the rears up front when i do my swap.

Stomis 01-30-2007 04:13 AM

I'm still considering doing this but I'm iffy on how it would look with an ext cab. Every standard cab I see looks good and ext cabs seem to look goofy. I may just flatbed it and move the rear rear forward to shorten base. Anyone have a link on moving the rear forward?

Toy-SkiTzo 01-30-2007 05:16 AM

i think it would look fine. it would move my axle the same way it would if i flatbeded it only i keep some of the factory look

drew303 01-30-2007 11:02 AM

why not just flatbed it. More function, less headache, probably look better to.

Im a practical dude and to go through all that work seems like a waste. Whats the point? Now what good is the tiny bed? Cant really use it for much.

I have a 6' bed and with a toolbox taking up over a foot of that I'm hurtn for space. What your doin would probably land you with even less cargo space.

Toy-SkiTzo 01-30-2007 11:20 AM

Im going to get a trailer because the only think I haul with my truck is my bike besides I have other trucks I can use that are easier to load than my Toyota. Also I don?t really like flatbeds because anything you put in them has to be tied down

customcruiser 01-30-2007 11:25 AM

i bobbed my runner

Toy-SkiTzo 01-30-2007 11:32 AM

got a bigger pic?

anything you put in the bed of your truck while wheeling should be tied down.

If it were up to me, I'd sell the bed and build a flatbed.

i know but when im not wheeling it would be a pain i just dont like flatbeds

besides my beds not worth that much ,even though their is no rot it is coverd with dents

da_bigg_wigg 01-30-2007 11:44 AM

Definitely looks like a lot of the hilux double cabs I see rippin' around these parts. I say give'r if you don't mind losing more box room in an already small box...
